Friday Night PDF Print E-mail

On Friday night, we had a prayer service with Restoration Community Bible Church, which is pastored by my friend, Willie Rogers, and is the church that meets regularly at Forest Hills. One of the developments from the meeting was a prophetic word that Pastor Gene Stanley shared. He had all of us in the meeting stretch out our hand in front of us and make a cupping shape. He then referenced Elijah and the story of the rain storm in 1 Kings 18 which these verses help explain, “The seventh time the servant reported, "A cloud as small as a man's hand is rising from the sea." So Elijah said, "Go and tell Ahab, 'Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.'

The encouraging word was that right now, our efforts may look like a cloud as small as a man’s hand. But as we are faithful to pray, and to sow seed toward the Forest Hills community, that rain is coming. We are going to see fruit for the sowing of seed in people’s lives in that community and there will be reward. Both churches were genuinely encouraged. Kerrie shared her heart during the meeting, and it was probably the most touching part of the service. To hear her speak with such passion about her heart for that community was inspiring.

Where do we go from here? We continue to pray for the outreaches, and participate as much as we can. We throw our investment behind the outreaches when possible, and we continue to work with Pastor Willie’s church to partner in making a kingdom impact in that community. We have a schedule of events posted on the back of this bulletin. Please join us as you are able.

Let’s continue to build on the momentum that God is giving to us. There are some great things that lay ahead of us and each of us is playing a vital role to help us get there. May God continue to bless Forest Hills.

Kingdom Blessings, Pastor John
